Being a mom

I saw this in a myspace bulletin today and just LOVED it! Somedays it's really tough being a mom and I don't always think that I'm doing it all right. So it's nice to see something like this telling me that I don't always have to be "perfect", that's it's ok to just be their mom sometimes and not the drill sergeant!! As my husband lovingly refers to me!
I try so hard to do everything right, worrying about what I teach them, feed them, dress them, how they behave, how they speak, how clean they are, how clean thier rooms are and I feel as if sometimes I get so consumed with all this that I am missing them just being kids. I need to accept that sometimes they do misbehave, they do make a mess, and they like to dress in crazy, tacky outfits!! lol And that's ok cause that's their job. Just to enjoy being kids!

I'm gonna try a lot harder to enjoy them just the way they are. Which is perfect to me!

Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough doesn't come out of shag carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.
Real Mothers sometimes ask "Why me?" and get their answer when a little voice says, "Because I love you best."
Real Mothers know that a childs growth is not measured by height or years or grade. It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mom to Mother...

The Images of Mother4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it
.35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom ' s opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

The craziness of August!!!

Wow, what a few crazy weeks it's been!!! August is always very hectic around here. Both boys have their birthdays and Carson goes back to school!!! Not only is it wild, it's very expensive! LOL! Between presents for both boys, school supplies and school clothes, I spend more in August than I do on Xmas!

Carson started school about 2 weeks ago and so far so good. I am very impressed with his teacher. She seems very on top of things and pretty strict, which I think Carson needs. He is so smart but I think he has gotten away with too much over his last 2 years of school and I'm excited to see how a more stern teacher will influence his behavior. He hasn't gotten into trouble in the past, just talking too much, wonder where he gets that from ?!?! lol
He turned 7 a few days after school started and got a brand new bike! He got a 20 inch bike and compared to his other bike, it seemed so big! I insisted that we get the one with training wheels even though he had been riding the other without for a few months. But when we got home he begged to take them off and to my amazement, he did GREAT! Didnt fall once! I was so proud! He is really growing up!

Trent's 3rd birthday was this past Saturday and he got some cool stuff too! He got a Imaginex Bat Cave and hasnt stopped playing with it. It's like a little house for Batman and the others and it's so much fun watching him use his little imagination while he plays. He puts them in different parts of the place and acts out the things they do! Too cute!

While I'm glad all of the craziness for the month is over, it makes me a little sad too. Another year gone by so fast. Before I know it, I'll be buying cars for these little men of mine! Scary thought!!!!

Carson's 7th birthday

We had Carson's 7th birthday party this weekend! I can't believe it's already August and birthday time! We had the party at my grandparents pool. They have a great back yard complete with an awesome pool, slide, hot tub and tree house. Needless to say, the kids had a blast!!! Carson invited his friend Justin and his little sister Katie and I got to visit with their mom, Marianne. They are some of our closest friends but we hardly ever get to hang out so it was really nice to catch up with her. My brothers and sisters came along with my sis in law Stephanie and nephew Leo. It was nice to get to hang with the fam too, everyone's schedules are so crazy these days that we never get to talk for long.
My beautiful sisters Kelsey and Shelby, who are growing up WAY too fast!!!

My grandmother surprised Carson with an awesome Spiderman Cake and he was beyond thrilled! He still loves superheroes and he loves surprises.
It was just a wonderful day all around and just reminded me how lucky I am to have so many great friends and family!

My boys with granddad
Princess Bella had a great time too, though the party seem to cut into her nap time which she wasn't very happy about!!

Carson's actual birthday is this Saturday the 9th and Trent's 3rd birthday is the next Saturday the 16th so stay tuned for more bday pics!

I'm so behind!

Trying to make my blog look all cute has made me realize how behind I am! I don't even have a current family picture. The only one I have is over a YEAR old! I am such a terrible mom!!
Well now that I realize this, first thing in the morning I am making us an appointment to get our pictures made. Which also means shopping trip for flashy new outfits, YEA! So stay tuned for new photos of my beautiful family!

Seems like a good idea

So after seeing all my friends enjoy blogging so much, I'm thinking this might be a good idea! I used to love to write, still do so I'm thinking this might fulfill that need to.
Well where to start?!?! Im Brittany Burks, 25 year old mother to 3 amazing kids and wife to one of the best men I've ever known. I am a stay at home mommy and my husband Travis is a cop. Our kids are Carson, 7 Trent 3 and Bella who will be 2 in November. We have a house full, that's for sure and our life is crazy but it's the best life for us. I believe I work best in chaos and proud of it!
I always seem to have lots of madness going on and can always use a way to vent so be prepared! I really hope I will keep this updated and keep in touch with all my wonderful friends!
